Peter A. BasilevskyPeter A. Basilevsky is a partner of Satterlee Stephens Burke & Burke LLP. Mr. Basilevsky practices in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, securities, oil and gas, and international law. He is engaged in formulating, negotiating and implementing corporate mergers, acquisitions and dispositions, domestic and foreign public and private securities offerings and various energy-related financings, with special emphasis on the securities law aspects of such financings. He has also participated in structuring and implementing foreign and domestic oil, gas and mining industry transactions. Mr. Basilevsky is admitted before the New York State Bar; United States Court of Appeals, Second Circuit; and the United States District Court, Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He belongs to the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, where he is a member of the Committee on Energy and is a past member of the Committees on Foreign and Comparative Law and the Special Committee on the Independent States of the Former Soviet Union. He also plays an active role in the American Bar Association where he is a member of its Sections on Business Law (Committees on Federal Regulation of Securities and on Partnerships and Unincorporated Business Organizations) and on Natural Resources, Energy and Environmental Law. A frequent lecturer on topics involving securities regulations and the energy industry, Mr. Basilevsky has organized and moderated public panel discussions for the Association of the Bar of the City of New York entitled "The Continuing Search for Oil and Gas: Current Developments in Financing the Independents" and "Problems and Prospects of the Domestic Natural Gas Industry," the American Bar Association, the U.S.A-R.O.C. Economic Council, the National Conference of Petroleum Independents, and the American Chamber of Commerce of Sao Paulo, Brazil. He served as Co-Chair of the Fulcrum Information Services, Inc. conference entitled "Exploration and Production Company Mergers & Acquisitions Institute: Doing the Right Deal at the Right Time." He is the author of two articles for The Oil Daily: Completion Funds: The Wave of the Future and Opportunities Bring Foreign Direct Investment Into U.S. Oil and Gas. Fluent in both French and Russian, Mr. Basilevsky earned his undergraduate (B.A.) and law (J.D.) degrees from Columbia University.
