James H. Bell
James H. Bell is a partner of Satterlee Stephens Burke & Burke LLP and practices primarily in the areas of business acquisitions and dispositions, corporate finance, public offerings, private placements and securities transactions. The principal clients for whom Mr. Bell engages in merger and acquisition work are foreign and foreign-controlled companies in the material handling, automotive, process controls, precision instruments, hardware and greeting card businesses. He has completed public and private company acquisitions and joint ventures for these clients in recent months. He is currently representing one of the largest banks in the Middle East in the acquisition of a branch in New York. Mr. Bell has also represented issuers of equity and debt securities in private placement transactions, initial public offerings and secondary offerings of equity securities. He has represented underwriters in public equity offerings and private placements and acted as counsel for private placement investors and selling security holders. Mr. Bell is experienced in representing creditors and stockholders in reorganization proceedings. In 1989-91, he served as co-counsel to the equity committee in one of the largest public utility reorganizations in U.S. history. Mr. Bell also has experience in representing foreign governments and instrumentalities in connection with compliance with U.S. securities laws. Mr. Bell is admitted to practice in New York and before the United States District Court, Southern District of New York. Mr. Bell earned his undergraduate degree at Yale College (A.B.) and his law degree (J.D.) at Harvard Law School.
