Experience:

M.J. Williams is an associate at Satterlee Stephens Burke & Burke, LLP.

Ms. Williams concentrates her practice in the areas of commercial litigation, media law, and intellectual property law, including copyright registration and litigation, trademark prosecution, practice before the Trademark Trial and Appeals Board, and Lanham Act claims.

She also has a background in publishing, as a freelance editor, writer, and translator, and with art museums, having worked for the Whitney Museum of American Art, the National Gallery in Prague, and the Contemporary Jewish Museum prior to joining the firm.

Ms. Williams is admitted to practice in New York and before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and is a member of the American Bar Association and its Section for Intellectual Property Law, the Federal Bar Association, the Copyright Society of the USA, the New York State Bar Association, and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York (Member, Art Law Committee, 2008-2009).

Education:

Ms. Williams received her undergraduate degree with distinction (A.B.) from the University of Michigan. She received her law degree cum laude (J.D.) from Brooklyn Law School, where she received Dean’s List honors and served as Executive Articles Editor for the Brooklyn Law Review.
