Experience:
James F. Rittinger is a partner of Satterlee Stephens Burke & Burke LLP.
Mr. Rittinger is a litigator who has tried and handled appeals in leading cases in all areas of commercial litigation.
Mr. Rittinger has particular expertise in cases involving antitrust, securities, commercial contracts, copyright, trademark, defamation, the rights of privacy and publicity, advertising, the music industry, media contracts and insurance coverage. He represents publishers, advertising agencies and broadcasters in a variety of negotiations and litigated proceedings. He has extensive experience in arbitrating cases before the American Arbitration Association and other forums and has served as a party-selected arbitrator.
A member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, Mr. Rittinger is admitted to practice in New York and before the United States Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fifth and Ninth Circuits, and numerous Federal district courts throughout the United States.
Mr. Rittinger served as Justice of the Village of Briarcliff Manor, New York, from 1983 through 1994. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Waterhouse Investor Services, Inc., a New York Stock Exchange listed company, from 1987 through its acquisition by Toronto Dominion Bank in 1997. Mr. Rittinger served as Chairman of National Investors Cash Management Fund, Inc., a mutual fund affiliated with Toronto Dominion, from 1997 through 2007.
Education:
Mr. Rittinger earned his undergraduate degree (B.A.) cum laude from St. Bonaventure University and his law degree (J.D.) on a full academic scholarship from the University of Notre Dame, where he was an editor of the Notre Dame Law Review.
