Experience:

Ms. Jasper is an associate attorney of Satterlee Stephens Burke & Burke LLP. 

Her litigation practice concentrates on commercial disputes primarily in the area of employment/labor, including discrimination claims and collective bargaining issues.  She also counsels employers on all aspects of employment affairs, workplace policies and dispute prevention, collective bargaining, wage and hour matters, employee manuals and policies, severance packages, employment agreements and other workplace issues. 

Other aspects of her business litigation practice include representing clients in the areas of insurance disputes, general contract, real estate and creditors’ rights.  In addition to traditional litigation practice, she also has experience representing clients in quasi-judicial and administrative forums and with alternative dispute resolution mediums.

Ms. Jasper also has a background in non-profit management and development, which she applies to serve the legal needs of cultural, educational and charitable institutions, including regularly working in the areas of child services, museum management and non-profit corporate governance.  Additionally, she has served as a director of a number of community institutions.

Ms. Jasper is admitted to practice in the States of New York and New Jersey and before the bars of the Supreme Court of the United States, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, U.S. Court of Appeals for Veteran Claims, and U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey.  She is a member of the New York State Bar Association, where she is a member of the Labor and Employment Section, the Federal and Commercial Litigation Section and is a member of the Committee on Evidence. 

In 2006-2008 Ms. Jasper was awarded the honorific designation of “Empire State Counsel” in recognition of her outstanding contributions in providing legal services to indigent New Yorkers.  She was also awarded the Black Law Students Association’s Alumni Award in 2005 at Brooklyn Law School.

Education:

Ms. Jasper earned her J.D. cum laude from Brooklyn Law School, where she was an Edward V. Sparer Public Interest Law Fellow, a two-time Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Scholar, and a nationally ranked mock trial competitor as a member of the Moot Court Honor Society.

Ms. Jasper earned a B.A in Government from the University of Virginia, where she was a Jerome Holland Scholar.  She also attended the School of Public Affairs, Baruch College, CUNY, concentrating her study in non-profit management and social welfare policy and was twice awarded the Abraham Beame Scholarship.
