David Leit




Experience

David Leit is an associate at Satterlee Stephens Burke & Burke LLP.

Mr. Leit focuses his practice on intellectual property matters, First Amendment law, computer law, and civil litigation. He is experienced in litigation, registration and transactions pertaining to trademarks, copyrights, and various aspects of computer law. A former chair of the Board of Directors, Mr. Leit currently serves on the Alumni Board of Advisors of the Unemployment Action Center, Inc., a non-profit law student run corporation providing pro bono representation to unemployment insurance claimants.

As a member of the American Bar Association, Mr. Leit serves as Internet liaison to the Litigation Section¹s First Amendment and Media Litigation Committee and serves on the Science and Technology Committee. He is also a member of the New York State Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York. He is admitted to practice in New York and New Jersey and before the Federal Court in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the District of New Jersey.

Mr. Leit is co-author of Media Access To The Court: The Current State Of The Law (American Bar Association Litigation Committee Annual Meeting Materials) and Copyright and Technological Developments: Present Risks and Opportunities to University Press. He is the author of the CyBarrister Page; a special section of the firm¹s World Wide Web site devoted to information on electronic media and Internet law.

Mr. Leit's has presented to the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts on the interaction between copyright law and unemployment insurance law as it effects artists. He also participated in a panel presentation to the Advertising Section of the American Corporate Counsel Association¹s Greater New York Chapter on Minimizing the Risks of CyberAdvertising.

Mr. Leit earned his undergraduate degree (A.B.) from Stanford University, where he was a David Starr Jordan Scholar and a Garden State Distinguished Scholar. He received his law degree (J.D.) from Columbia University, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a James Kent Scholar. While at Columbia, he was awarded the Samuel I. Rosenman prize for outstanding contributions to public interest law and served on the editorial staff of the Journal of Environmental Law.
