Kirk H. O'FerrallExperienceKirk H. O'Ferrall is a partner of Satterlee Stephens Burke & Burke LLP and the head of the firm's tax practice. Mr. O'Ferrall's practice encompasses all aspects of the tax law, including individual and business income tax planning, employee benefits, estate planning, and municipal finance. His clients include domestic and foreign corporations, partnerships, and individuals. He has represented clients in administrative proceedings and litigation with the Internal Revenue Service and state tax authorities and before the United States Tax Court. Mr. O'Ferrall also devotes a substantial amount of his practice to executive compensation matters, including deferred compensation programs and stock options, and to qualified retirement plans. He advises both individual executives and large and small businesses in structuring executive compensation programs and retirement plans. Admitted to practice in New York State and before the United States Tax Court, Mr. O'Ferrall is a member of the Sections of Taxation of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association. Mr. O'Ferrall has served as a lead articles editor for The Tax Lawyer since 1994. The Tax Lawyer is a publication of the American Bar Association, Section of Taxation. He has written on a variety of tax and employee benefits related topics. Mr. O'Ferrall earned his undergraduate degree (B.A.) from the State University of New York at Binghamton. He received both his law degree (J.D.) and a master of laws in taxation (M.L.T.) from Georgetown University, where he was a legal research and writing instructor and served on the student editorial board for The Tax Lawyer.
